Export packing

Packed for a container,
not for a showroom.

A flat-packed structure is only as good as the list that travels with it. What goes in the crates, how the cartons are marked, and what you receive before the container leaves.

01 Packing

Four things in
every shipment.

The packing is designed so a crew that has never built one of these can work from the bundle tags and the drawing, instead of sorting through a mixed pile of parts.

01

One bundle per assembly group

Frame members are bundled by the group they belong to on the drawing, strapped, and wrapped in protective film so the coating arrives unmarked. Each bundle carries a tag with its group code, so the crew opens the bundle that matches the step it is on rather than whatever sits on top of the stack.

02

Sheets crated, membrane folded to sequence

Roof sheets travel on edge with edge protection. Membrane is folded to a marked sequence so it is laid in the same order as the frame goes up — a creased sheet, or a membrane folded against its grain, is a roof that never sits flat.

03

Fixings bagged by step

Anchors, bolts, screws, sealant and touch-up paint are divided into bags labelled with the step that uses them. One mixed box of hardware is how a crew ends up short of a single bolt size and improvising the rest.

04

One packing list, matched to one drawing

The packing list ties carton numbers to drawing references and to the assembly sequence, with the gross weight of each carton. It is the document the forwarder, the installer and the site store all work from.

02 Finishing

Sprayed and cured
before it is packed.

A frame is hung on the line, sprayed and left to cure before a single metre of film goes around it. Wrap a frame that is still wet, or pack it before it has cured, and the film bonds to the paint: the customer opens the bundle to a marked surface and a finish that cannot be touched up cleanly.

  • Frames racked and sprayed as a batch, so one order carries one colour and one gloss level
  • Cured before wrapping, so the protective film lifts off without taking the finish with it
  • Touch-up paint travels in the fixings bag, matched to the batch on the packing list

03 Photographs

How it leaves the factory.

Coated sections wrapped and palletised in the workshop, a completed unit photographed at the container terminal. Photographs like these are issued against the packing list before dispatch.

04 The documents

What the paperwork
has to say.

The quotation states the delivery terms and what is included. The packing list states the volume, the weight and what is in each carton — together they are what a customs broker and an installer both need.

Container
20GP about 33 m³, 40GP about 67 m³, 40HQ about 76 m³ of usable volume
Fill
Depends on how the frame nests and on the length of the longest member; the loading plan is drawn before packing
Markings
Carton number, group code, gross weight, project reference
Protection
Stretch film, edge protectors, desiccant where the route is humid
Documents
Packing list with weights, drawing set and finish list; bill of lading, invoice and certificate of origin through your forwarder
Before dispatch
Photographs of the packed cartons and the loaded container, checked against the packing list
Delivery terms
EXW, FOB or CIF, stated in the quotation with the port named

Tell us the structure, the quantity and the destination port. We will send the reference packing list and loading plan for a comparable order, so the freight can be costed before the structure is.
